Taking the track first on this eventful evening will be the Grand Raggidy All Stars against the Royal City Brute Leggers. The Brute Leggers are currently ranked #88 in the WFTDA whereas the All Stars are ranked #74. It could be a very close game, although the stats are saying that the All Stars have an 87 percent chance of winning. Both teams have been on a steady win/lose streak so this game could be anyone’s for the taking! Immediately following that action, the Grand Raggidy Attack will face off against the Royal City Rum Rollers. These two teams have never taken the track together before but they are excited for the challenge. The statistics tell us that the Rum Rollers have a 91 percent chance of securing a win but only time will tell which of these two teams will come out victorious.

The two hardest hitting teams on this side of the Mississippi, Grand Raggidy Attack and Barbed Wire Betties will be taking the track first this evening. Having never skated against one another before, these two teams are up for the challenge. The stats show that Grand Raggidy has a 70 percent chance of taking home the win, but looking at the Betties current winning streak, the outcome may be too close to predict. Guess you will just have to be there to see how it all shakes out! After all of that fun action, the rootin’ tootin’ Grand Raggidy All Stars will take the track against the team that skates faster than any speeding bullet; Tri-City Roller Derby. This will be a close and exciting game, packed full of action, as the All Stars lost to Tri-City by only 30 points the last time they met! On Saturday, February 18th, hailing from Minnesota the North Star Roller Girls will be visiting to face off against our very own Grand Raggidy.

First to the track will be Grand Raggidy’s All Stars and North Star’s Supernovas. The last time these two teams skated against one another was at the K-Town Shakedown where the Supernovas came out ahead by 63 points. According to the statistics, Grand Raggidy has a 31% chance of winning this game! You will just have to be there to see how it all goes down. Directly following that game, Grand Raggidy’s Attack will be giving their all against North Star’s Northern Lights. These two teams also played one another at K-Town Shakedown and Attack was blown out of the water by the Northern Lights. Although, this time around, Attack is compiled of some newer skaters and some veterans who have been training harder than ever. We will see who comes out victorious.

In coordination with Susan G. Komen, this evening will be an Experience Pink themed event! What is Experience Pink? It is a way for you to both have fun in Grand Rapids and support breast cancer awareness and research at the same time. 75% of the money raised will go towards providing assistance for women in West Michigan who are suffering from breast cancer and to also provide mammograms for those whom cannot afford it. The organization will have a booth at the game and will be taking  contributions for the cause. Double Header

On Saturday, January 28th, we’re bringing in the new year with an outrageous double header! On this very night you will be introduced to the Bath City Roller Girls from Macomb, MI, and the Downriver Roller Dolls from Woodhaven, MI!

We are kicking off this evening with Grand Raggidy’s Attack facing off against Bath City’s Bathtub Bettys. We’ll have to see which one of these teams will leave the other in the dust! They’ve never played one another before, but from looking at the stats, the Bettys are forecasted to take the lead. You won’t want to miss this first encounter between some of the hardest hitters in the mitten. Next up to bat is the Grand Raggidy All Stars versus the Downriver Doll Stars. These two teams have skated against one another before and Grand Raggidy’s All Stars had a mad lead. But, this season we’re changing things up, bringing both returning and some new skaters to the track. You’ll just have to be there to see how this match will turn out. Will Grand Raggidy be able to remain undefeated? Or will Downriver clean their slate?

To start this season off right this game is… you guessed it… 80’s themed! But, this isn’t just any 80’s theme it’s an 80’s WORKOUT theme! Come to the game sporting your best spandex, head band, and fanny pack! Get those buns of steel rockin’ and show us what you’re working with! This evening we’re going to make Jane Fonda proud. As always, the bomb squad will be fully equipt with all your fan accessories and goodies. Be sure to check out the booth and take a photo with the Grand Raggidy logo or pick up some fresh derby swag.

Double Header

On Saturday, November 12th, Grand Raggidy Roller Derby is going to face off against not only the Yspilanti Vigilantes but also a team comprised of some of the best skaters in Michigan; Team Michigan.

First to lace up their skates and take the track will be Grand Raggidy’s All Stars and Team Michigan. Can the All Stars hold their own up against some of Michigan’s best? It was a neck-to-neck game up until the last moment the last time these teams played against one another. The score of the game ended with Team Michigan 182 to Grand Raggidy 136. The All Stars have been training hard and are more determined than ever to finally defeat the notorious Team Michigan. This is going to be one hell of a game and you’re going to be on the edge of your seat. In a grand finale, Grand Raggidy Attack! will bring all that they have against the malicious Ypsilanti Vigilantes. The Vigilantes are the Ann Arbor Derby Dime’s B-team, therefore they will be trekking it all the way from Ann Arbor to Grand Rapids. In 2014 these teams played against each other and Attack! Won 264 to 116. This year Attack! has a 91% chance of winning, but 2014 was a decent amount of time ago and new skaters have come in while older skaters have moved up, so it is really anyone’s game. You will want to be there front row to see how this game will play out.

Our theme for our last home game of the 2016 year is “naughty or nice”. This is a family-friendly game as well, so bring your entire family, kids and all! Dress up as Santa, an elf, or anything you want to! Wear your favorite sweater that has those cute little reindeer on it. Get into the season the right way with Grand Raggidy! The Packs of Love raffle is still on for this game. If you purchase a raffle ticket, the donation goes towards providing gifts that will be hand-delivered to veterans in the Grand Rapids community. The winner of the raffle will win a seat in the VIP section and two complimentary tickets. This is also the last chance for you to vote for the Golden Boot award, as it will be given away at this game!

Don’t miss out on the best part of the night, the after party! Get some drinks and hangout with your favorite roller derby ladies and gents. Per usual our after parties are 21+. Come dressed for the theme of the night, “naughty or nice” and be ready to boogie! Buy yourself one of our after party dog tags at the game and get the chance to win a free ticket to the next home game! You must be present to win.

Tickets to the event are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Discounts for kids, students & seniors are available. Advanced tickets can also be purchased at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2470363

On Saturday, October 22nd, Grand Raggidy Roller Derby will be taking the track against Brighton Roller Dollz from Brighton, MI and Killamazoo Derby Darlins’ from Kalamazoo, MI.

First to take the track will be our very own Grand Raggidy Attack! They will be going up against a mix up of Brighton’s C and B teams. According to the stats, Attack has a 94% chance of winning this game. The last time these teams played against one another was in late 2014. Attack took the lead in that game, but not by much! There is always a chance that in 2 years these two teams have developed enough to have a neck to neck race for this game! After that exciting action, Grand Raggidy’s All Stars will be going head to head against Killamazoo Derby Darlins’. These two teams see each other quite often, but the last time they dueled it out was a year ago. Both of these teams have been playing their hearts out in 2016, and what a great way to finish off the year by facing each other on the track. Grand Raggidy has a 90% chance of winning this game. For every 19 points Killamazoo scores, the All Stars are expected to score 34.

It’s that time of year again, Comic-con season! Our game will be Comic-con themed, so please come as your favorite comic book character. We will have tons of fun comic-related props for the photo booth so stop by the Bomb-squad table to get a wacky picture taken with them. We will also be having some trike races brought to you by Tom+Chee! Pick your side: do you want to root for the Grilled Cheese team… or the Tomato Soup team? Oh, and this is participatory! If you want to win two free tickets to the next game you will have the chance. All you will need to do is get on that tricycle and make it through our homemade obstacle course (18+ only). And now, what you’ve all been waiting for…the VIP section will be available for this game! The lucky winners from our September 24th game will be sitting nice and comfy, right by the action. Don’t worry, there will be more chances to win yourself a VIP ticket! Get a raffle ticket at this game and you might be the lucky winner for next month! Again, all proceeds go to Packs of Love.

As always, we will have a fun-tastic after party held at the Rezervior Lounge in Grand Rapids, MI. The theme for this party is COMIC-CON! Come as your favorite comic book character or just impersonate them literally the entire time you’re there. There will be a costume contest, so really do it up! There are going to be so many fun prizes in store for you! We hope that you’ll join us to celebrate.

On Saturday, September 24, 2016, Grand Raggidy Roller Derby duel it out against the Border City Brawlers. The Border City Brawlers are trekking it to Grand Rapids all the way from Windsor, Canada. That’s right, an international game is headed our way and these athletes pack a mean punch!

For this game we’ve decided to switch it up a bit. At 5:30 p.m. the Grand Raggidy All Stars will be taking the track along with the Border City Brawlers Travel Team. The Brawlers are currently ranked at 191 in the WFTDA (Women’s Flat Track Derby Association) and Grand Raggidy All Stars are currently ranked at 61. Recently, the Brawlers have been competing against teams much higher ranked than them such as the Ann Arbor Bruising Co. and the Hammer City Roller Girls. Though the games did not turn in their favor then, will they now? Grand Raggidy has a 99% chance of winning with a score ratio of 31 points to every 6 points that the Brawlers scores. After that exciting action, don’t worry, there’s plenty more! Grand Raggidy Attack will be competing against Border City’s B-team, the Canadian Clubbers. The stats reveal that Grand Raggidy Attack has a 94% chance of winning. Although these two teams have never played one another, there is always an opportunity for the Clubbers to snatch the lead. You’ll have to be there to find out who will come out victorious!

As usual, the Bomb Squad has some out of this world fun activities for you! We will have cheer gear available for you to show some spirit for your favorite team. The BIG prize for this game will be a chance to win VIP seats to the October 22nd game! There will be a $1 raffle where all donations benefit Packs of Love. What are Packs of Love? They are gifts that the Bomb Squad will be hand-delivering to veterans’ homes. These veterans do not have many visitors or family, so the Bomb Squad wanted to show them some love and show them how much the community cares. If you win the raffle, you will be invited to the VIP section at our next game and you will be granted 2 complimentary tickets so that your friends can join in on the fun as well! There is also an amazing Pokemon themed after-party for this game at the Rezervoir Lounge in Grand Rapids!

Tickets to the event are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Discounts for kids, students & seniors are available. Advanced tickets can also be purchased at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/247035
