Double Header, February 15
On February 15th, The Grand Raggidy All Stars and Attack teams will be taking on the South Bend Roller Girls; The Studebakers and The Bonnie Dooms. The last time these teams matched up was November 17, 2012. At that time, South Bend was still a WFTDA apprentice league. Grand Raggidy gave South Bend a difficult game with a final score of 446-15; Grand Raggidy. Now a little over a year later, South Bend has been accepted as a full member of WFTDA. They have had time to learn and grow as a team with every bout played since then. Both Grand Raggidy teams are ready for another round of tough games, as South Bend will have been preparing for this second match up. South Bend will want to be able to prove themselves with a win and even the score.
Once again this February, The Grand Raggidy Roller Girls will be partnering with the Susan G. Komen West Michigan Affiliate to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer treatment and research. “We are thrilled and thankful to be working with the Grand Raggidy Roller Derby Girls again this year. The continuous support of this team is amazing,” said Jennifer Jurgens, Executive Director of Susan G. Komen West Michigan. “This event is not only a way to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for our community but also to have fun, too.”
The Bomb Squad is busy crafting custom items, including a handmade quilt, which will be going home with one lucky fan. Along with the perfectly pink prizes, fans are encouraged to wear pink to show your support for all those who are fighting the fight against breast cancer. Halftime entertainment will be provided by some fabulous members of Girls Rock! Grand Rapids, a not-for-profit group of women dedicated to empowering girls through music.
Tickets can be purchased online at brownpapertickets.com, at Bartertown Diner or from your favorite roller girl!
