Running of the Bulls 2015

On Saturday August 8th, 2015 Grand Raggidy Roller Derby and BarFly Ventures are partnering to bring you an epic pub crawl known as the Running of the Bulls. This event is modeled after the famous El Encierro (The Running of the Bulls) which takes place every year in Pamplona, Spain. During El Encierro, the brave participants run through the streets of Pamplona Spain being chased by a group of angry bulls. On Aug 8th, you will have a chance to participate in Grand Rapids own version of El Encierro. Only instead of being chased by angry bulls, you will be run through downtown Grand Rapids being chased by a mob of terrifying roller derby girls. The girls will not only be dressed as bulls but will also be on skates. And just in case you don’t feel like running (or have had one too many to move very quickly) they will also be equipped with and not afraid to use their repurposed foam pool noodles to “motivate” you. But don’t worry, you will be able to take shelter in and re-hydrate at many of downtown Grand Rapids’ favorite bars. Each participating bar will be offering drink specials for registered runners.

Registration starts at 10am at Hopcat and has the option to come complete with a t-shirt and wristband for $20 (which will be required to receive the discounts offered at each bar). The chaos will begin at 11am and will end at Grand Rapids Brewing Company at 3pm. The route will include bars such as Stellas, McFaddens, Pyramid Scheme, Peppino's J Gardellas, Tin Can and more! So be sure to put Aug 8th on your summer calendar. This is a one of a kind event that you won’t want to miss. Hope to see you all there!
